Greetings,

Yes, that is me in the picture.  That is about 280’ up, and 6' out from the tower.  Doing this kind of thing for a living is working harder than I would like, but it sure beats the heck out of a lot of alternatives!

As I sit here in the rain at the Twin Lakes Star Party, I figure that I can use the time constructively (???) to rewrite some of my webpage.  This happens to be the week of three different observing events.  The Heart of America Star Party, Illinois Dark Skies Star Party, and the “must attend” Twin Lakes Star Party.  It is too bad about the scheduling of the Heart of America Star Party, because we have been regulars at that event up until this year.

As if Sandy and I need a new hobby to fill up the spare time that we already don't have, we are going to start two beehives in the spring, and become beekeepers.  The honey bee is a fascinating little creature, and it seems that the more I learn, the more that I want to know about it!  One important fact about the honey bee --- she is responsible for one third of the food that you eat.  That is every third spoonful!!!

It has been quite awhile since I’ve been able to acquire that “spare time” stuff and sit down to write updates for the page.  The most important update is that we are up to eight grandkids --- two girls in Illinois, two boys in Florida, and three boys and a girl in New York.  Now if there were only time and money to travel fulltime... I am quite sure that we could figure out how to schedule that triangle between Illinois, New York, and Florida!

I hope to see everybody at a star gazing event sometime during the year.  Star parties are fun, but be careful --- you might find them as addicting as many others have already!

Keep an eye on the star party list.  We have requested the JEPC Campground for June 10 - 13, 2010.  As soon as we get confirmation after the first of the year, I'll get it posted.

If anybody has any suggestions, either fill out the form on the feedback page, or send me a note directly.  mike@mikewolford.com

Thank you all for the interest in the web site.  Enjoy!

Mike
